The Japan Institute of Design Promotion, Inc. will host the exhibition “Design Beyond - Design for a New World” from Friday, June 16 to Sunday, July 30 as a pre-event for the “WDO World Design Congress Tokyo 2023,” which it is organizing and which will be held in Japan this October for the first time in 34 years.
This exhibition, held ahead of the WDO World Design Conference Tokyo 2023, is designed for a wide audience interested in considering the future of society beyond specialized design fields. It explores the conference's overarching theme, “Design Beyond,” and the four themes scheduled for discussion within the conference: “Humanity,” “Planet,” “Technology,” and “Policy.”
The exhibition features design initiatives related to each theme, presented by the design departments of eight domestic companies supporting the WDO World Design Conference Tokyo 2023, nine speakers from various fields participating in the conference's international sessions, and three related organizations.
What kind of future can design bring to our lives, industries, and society? This exhibition offers an opportunity to explore the role and potential of design in opening up a “new world” from multiple perspectives.
